Losing weight is by far one of the biggest problems we try to tackle as a society.  It’s a never-ending problem that everyone and their dog struggles with time and time again.  A myriad number of people want to lose weight, but it seems like one of the biggest struggles people face is finding the time to make it happen.

I totally understand that budgeting time to lose weight can be a struggle.  I’ve personally struggled over the past several years in terms of prioritizing and setting aside time for my health and fitness goals.

The truth, however, is that losing weight doesn’t have to take hours of our valuable time every single day.  You don’t have to sacrifice your entire life to lose weight.  Losing weight does require energy and effort, especially if you want to lose weight extremely fast, but there are some hacks that you can utilize with minimal time.  Below are 5 creative ways to lose weight without taking extra time!

1.Consume personal development material

I know that a lot of people are going to roll their eyes at this strategy because it’s very bizarre and doesn’t seem to have much logic to it at first glance.  I mean, c’mon, how can reading a self-help book help you lose weight?  To most logical people, the concept seems absolutely ridiculous.

This concept seems ludicrous, but I can assure you that the biggest reason people do not lose weight is because of their mindset.  Our actions and habits are all a result of our mindset.  The difference between those who succeed at losing weight and fail at losing weight is certainly not a lack of time.  Those who succeed at their health goals simply think differently.  They think more positively, believe in their abilities, and have an indominable attitude toward their goals.

With a powerful winning mentality, one becomes nearly invincible.  In order to develop this mindset, one must consume personal development material of some sort.  The consumption of personal development materials doesn’t mandate strenous amounts of time.  You can listen to a podcast on your way to work, watch a motivational YouTube video during your lunch break, or read 10 minutes before going to bed.  Consuming tidbits of personal development material on a daily basis will program your subconscious which will then manifest into taking the necessary action steps toward weight loss.

2.Snack on vegetables

We all love to snack on occasion.  Some of you may love to snack a little too often!  The real question we have to ask ourselves is: “What are we snacking on?”  A lot of us can’t help but snack on our favorite cookie or on the donuts that our coworker brings to the office.  Eating unhealthy treats intermittently will compound over time and will become a disaster for our weight loss progress.

Instead of destroying our progress, we can utilize snacking to actually help us lose weight.  Snacking on vegetables is one of the best ways to prevent weight gain.  Most vegetables are incredibly nutritious, low in calories, low in carbs, and high in fiber.  All those attributes are conducive to helping you shed a few pounds.

Also, by eating vegetables in small portions throughout the day, you’re filling up your belly and curbing your appetite.  A lot of us gain weight because we have a tendency to overeat.  Snacking on vegetables throughout the day can potentially prevent us from overeating, while also increasing our metabolism.

3.Don’t eat breakfast

While I don’t necessarily recommend this for everyone, especially if you have a health condition of some sort, skipping out on breakfast can potentially melt pounds of fat off your body.  This is actually a tactic known as intermittent fasting, which I utilized to lose a ton of weight a few years ago, and continue to utilize on a daily basis to prevent excessive weight gain.

Many people say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  In terms of filling your appetite and getting some energy to start your day, there’s definitely some truth to that.  However, when it comes to losing weight and burning fat, many advocates of intermittent fasting will say that it’s the most important meal to skip!

When you wake up in the morning your body is typically in a fasted state, which means you’re hungry and your body wants to consume food instead of consuming your body fat for fuel.  By skipping breakfast, you’ll force your body to get into a fat-burning state.  If you’re not used to fasting, I’d recommend going a bit slow to see how your body reacts.  Maybe select one or two days per week to skip breakfast, and then potentially work your way up to more days per week.  Trust me.  This is one of the best ways to burn fat without taking any extra time!

4.Walk more and take the stairs

Walking is definitely one of the best ways to get fit and burn some pounds off your body.  Just about everyone on the planet knows this, but few actually choose to implement.  Walking is incredibly easy to do, requires minimal skill or effort, requires no money, and just about anyone can do it.  It’s a great way to burn calories and boost your natural metabolism.

Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need to wake up super early in the morning and walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes to receive the health benefits of walking.  Walking can very easily be integrated into your current lifestyle.

If you work full-time, see what you can do to walk to work as much as possible as opposed to driving.  If you’re a full-time student, see what you can do to walk as much as possible to and from class, and also between classes.  If you have a 30-minute lunch break or break of any sort, take 10 minutes and go on a walk.  10 minutes of walking per day may not seem like a lot, but if you do it every single day for a year, it will compound into exponential results.  365 days of taking any sort of productive action on a consistent basis will get you a successful result of some sort.

If you’re feeling a bit adventurous and ambitious, see if you can include stairs in your daily walks.  Power walking on flat ground might be too easy for some.  For those you that want a bit more of a challenge, walk up and down a flight of stairs for 10-30 minutes per day.  It’s an excellent way to work up a sweat, breathe heavily, and send your body down weight loss lane.

5.Sleep well and sleep regularly

Last, but certainly not least, strive to get an adequate amount of sleep per night.  I know that sleeping may seem ridiculous when it comes to helping you lose weight, but it’s a crucial factor to both weight loss and your overall health.

Sleeping is something that everyone needs to do and something that almost everyone loves to do.  Many of us, however, are not consistent with our sleep.  Whether it’s because of work, school, or personal responsibilities, many of us oversleep, undersleep, or sleep at inconsistent times each day.  This can cause problems with the overall biological programming of our bodies.

In order for our bodies to properly recover and produce the proper levels of fat-burning hormones, we need to get adequate and consistent amounts of sleep every day.  The exact amount will differ for everyone.  Everyone has a different body and different levels of activity, which will dictate how much sleep you really “need” to function at optimal levels.

You might need to experiment a little bit to determine how many hours of sleep you need to feel your best.  I’d suggest starting with a consistent 8 hours of sleep per day, since that’s what many experts suggest.  If you feel as though 8 hours is too little or too much, then feel free to adjust accordingly in the weeks that follow.  In addition, I’d recommend making the commitment to sleeping and waking up at the same times each day.  Trust me.  Your body will thank me later!

Now that you’ve got some creative methods to lose weight, go out there and implement some of those tactics.  Some of those strategies I listed above may seem oversimplified, but you’ll be surprised how much of a difference they can make when the proper action is taken.  You don’t need to hit the gym 2 hours every day in order to see some results.  It’s okay to work hard, but it’s even better if you work smart at the same time.

You can dream of having a slimmer waist or shedding fat off your butt, but nothing will happen until you take action!  They say that the biggest gap in the world is the gap between “knowing” and “doing.”  Take action and close that gap.  If you close the gap between “knowing how to lose weight” and “doing what it takes to lose weight,” you will achieve the results you want, and it doesn’t even have to take that much time!
